What ShipMeasure does
ShipMeasure is a browser-based shipment planning workspace plus focused calculators. Enter mixed-SKU cargo once and carry the same shipment through CBM, dimensional and chargeable weight, packaging optimisation, pallet planning, dry-container utilisation, LCL-vs-FCL comparison and freight-cost allocation.
How the calculations work
The tools use straightforward geometric and weight formulas. Where dimensions, payloads or divisors are service-dependent, ShipMeasure labels them as planning assumptions rather than presenting them as guaranteed carrier limits.
The pallet planner tests whole-carton orientations, applies loaded-height and gross-weight limits, and draws a top-down layer pattern. Container results compare volume and payload constraints. These tools are useful for early planning and comparison, but they do not replace warehouse load planning, engineering judgement or a carrier's acceptance rules.
Privacy by design
The core calculations run in your browser. No account is required. The current draft and any shipments you explicitly save are stored in local browser storage on your device. Package dimensions are not intentionally sent to a ShipMeasure application server. A shareable link is generated only when you choose to copy one; its URL fragment contains the calculation state needed to reopen the shared shipment.
Transparent methodology
Every source-dependent assumption is intended to be visible rather than hidden in the code. The Methodology & Sources page documents carrier divisors, container references, pallet profiles, W/M logic, freight-allocation formulas and the date on which external sources were last reviewed.
